Forecast: endless scroll under blue light, clearing briefly when the battery dies.
Four tired ways to walk
Each has some truth in it. None of them is the whole story.
Under GodSheep that hide from the Shepherd
Every hour on my phone is a sin, and God is disappointed in me.
Over GodSheep that know the way
I’ve set app timers and a detox plan. Discipline will solve this.
From GodSheep that follow the grass
Just one more video. I deserve it after the day I’ve had.
For GodSheep trying to be the sheepdog
I have to keep up with every headline so I can respond to everything for God.
Attention is a form of love, and he invites us to be still and know him.
“Be still, and know that I am God” (Ps 46:10). Our screens aren’t the enemy. They are just very good at asking for our attention, and where our attention goes, our hearts tend to follow. Paul invites us to think about whatever is true, noble, lovely, and praiseworthy (Phil 4:8). We can set the phone down with no guilt involved, simply because Someone better is waiting to be with us.
Where the Shepherd isVery early, while it was still dark, Jesus went off to a solitary place to pray (Mark 1:35). When everyone was looking for him, he was looking to his Father.
Tonight, leave your phone outside the bedroom and give him the last thought of the day.
Lord, what am I hoping to find when I reach for my phone?
