Us with Godand Tomorrow

Forecast: scattered what-ifs on the horizon, with today itself mostly clear.

Four tired ways to walk

Each has some truth in it. None of them is the whole story.

Under GodSheep that hide from the Shepherd

Brace yourself. Something bad is coming, and I probably deserve it.

Over GodSheep that know the way

Plan everything and control the risk. Then I’ll be safe.

From GodSheep that follow the grass

God, just guarantee my future and I’ll be fine.

When it’s all over, will I have mattered?

With God · the way home

Tomorrow is with him too.

Jesus said not to worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself (Matt 6:34). Each day has enough trouble, and enough grace. We can bring every anxious thought to God with thanks, and his peace will guard our hearts and minds (Phil 4:6–7). Our times are in his hands (Ps 31:15). Plans are fine. We can hold them loosely, because the One who holds tomorrow is already there.

Where the Shepherd is“Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life” (Ps 23:6). He is ahead of us and behind us.

For the road

When a what-if shows up today, say, “You’ll be there too, Lord,” and come back to the moment you’re in.

Ask him

Lord, what do you want to give me today?

Fellow travelers

People in Scripture who walked this ground before us.

  • Ruth followed Naomi into a country she had never seen, with nothing to hold but a promise of company (Ruth 1:16–17).
  • Mary heard an impossible future announced and answered, “May your word to me be fulfilled” (Luke 1:38).

Keep walking
