Us with Godand Singleness
Forecast: a table for one, with frequent questions from well-meaning relatives.
Four tired ways to walk
Each has some truth in it. None of them is the whole story.
Under GodSheep that hide from the Shepherd
Maybe I’m still single because God is waiting for me to get my act together.
Over GodSheep that know the way
If I follow the right dating principles, God pretty much has to bring the right person.
From GodSheep that follow the grass
God, I’ll be content as soon as you give me a spouse.
For GodSheep trying to be the sheepdog
Since I’m single, I should fill every free hour with ministry to prove my life counts.
A single life is a whole life at his table, not a waiting room.
Jesus himself never married, and his life was full of God, friends, and purpose. Paul wrote that the unmarried can give “undivided devotion to the Lord” (1 Cor 7:32–35). That is a real gift. If you long for marriage, that longing is good, and you can bring it to him honestly. Married someday or not, your life with him has already begun.
Where the Shepherd isHe sets the lonely in families (Ps 68:6), and he calls everyone who does the Father’s will his brother and sister and mother (Mark 3:35).
Plan one thing this week you’d enjoy doing with him, exactly as your life is now.
Lord, what do you want to give me in this season, just as it is?
