Forecast: a fog of information, with occasional bright spells of understanding.
Four tired ways to walk
Each has some truth in it. None of them is the whole story.
Under GodSheep that hide from the Shepherd
Too many questions might make God angry, so I’d better not think too hard.
Over GodSheep that know the way
If I learn enough theology, I won’t really need to depend on God.
From GodSheep that follow the grass
I study to get ahead, and God’s job is to help me pass the test.
For GodSheep trying to be the sheepdog
I need to know every answer so I can win every argument for God.
We love God with our minds, and he loves to teach the ones who walk with him.
Jesus told us to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind (Matt 22:37). Even he “grew in wisdom and stature” (Luke 2:52). Learning can be one more way of spending time with the One who gives wisdom. Curiosity is welcome at his table. We can study, ask hard questions, and be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Rom 12:2).
Where the Shepherd isAs a boy, Jesus sat among the teachers in the temple, listening and asking questions (Luke 2:46). He still welcomes ours.
Learn one new thing today, and talk to him about it as you go.
Lord, what do you want to teach me today, and will you teach me yourself?
